Meet the Founder

Dave Olsen is the Founder and CEO of Nimbl, which is the merger and rebranding of two similar companies he founded: Venture CFO and Tanalytics. He founded these companies to bring sophisticated accounting professionals, processes, and technology to organizations that don't need a team of full-time accounting employees.

He has served as the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) for many companies ranging from new startups to established companies with several million in revenue.

He currently serves as the CFO of a venture capital fund and several venture-backed startups. He and his Nimbl team also serve as the outsourced accounting department for several companies.  

He has worked with a variety of entrepreneurs, CEOs, and leaders (all titles often describe the same person). Company stages have ranged from start-up to pre-revenue to growth to maturity. Business types include manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, professional services, hospitality, investing, and IP development. Industries include construction materials, plumbing and HVAC, travel and tourism, furniture, software, clean tech, medical services, and wireless infrastructure.

He has masters degrees in both Information Systems (Brigham Young University) and Accounting (University of Virginia). He coded for a start-up software company during university, and after graduation he worked in both IT and financial audit for a Big 4 accounting firm. This background provides a useful combination of finance and technology knowledge.

He is a CPA (CA, US) and Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada) and has worked with companies in both Canada and the US. He is familiar with accounting, tax, compliance, and other aspects of doing business on both sides of the border.

Most importantly, he resides in South Jordan, Utah with his beautiful wife and three incredible children. In his free time he enjoys reading, mountain biking, hiking, and spending time with his family.
